Our Theme Park Expert Says:

Explore a 44-acre historic theme park and explore Alaska's past! Ride the old rails, cruise the river or enjoy a relaxing lunch on the lawn here at Pioneer Park. Formerly called Alaskaland, this is an historic theme park featuring 29 restored and relocated buildings that form a re-created town from the gold rush. Guests can take a unique walk through Fairbanks' history and visit the many merchants that reside in the historical cabins here. In addition, there are three museums to explore, including the Pioneer Hall Museum, the Native Village Museum and Pioneer Air Museum, which boasts a gold dome designed by Buckminster Fuller, along with a train which encircles the park. Those seeking a bit more activity can enjoy the miniature-golf course, the 40-foot antique carousel or the old-time saloon. Pioneer Park is also home to the Alaskaland Civic Center and Theatre, and the Farthest North Square and Round Dance Center, and guests here are invited to the "Golden Heart Revue" - a collection of musical comedy sketches performed nightly at the Palace Saloon. Pioneer Park has covered picnic shelters and a large grassy field and playground area for travelers to stretch their legs and relax or enjoy a brown-bag lunch on the lawn. While here, don't miss the sternwheeler riverboat 'Nenana' and President Warren G. Harding's railroad car 'Denali' - both unique features here at the fun-filled and historical Pioneer Park.
