This extremely remote nature reserve in northwestern Alaska is made up of large lagoons and limestone along the Chukchi Sea. Human inhabitance likely dates back at least 9,000 years. Popular activities include hiking or kayaking in the summer, and dog mushing in the winter, weather permitting. Conditions can be arctic, even in the "warmer" months. The park can only be accessed by plane or boat and there are no facilities at all in the Monument.
From Cape Krusenstern National Monument - Alaska:
Cape Krusenstern is a treeless coastal plain of lagoons and hills. The cape's bluffs and series of 114 beach ridges record changing shorelines of the Chukchi Sea and an estimated 5,000 years of human use of this coastline.
