You know you've come a long way when you find yourself visiting a U.S. National Park that's practically located in Siberia. The fascinating Bering Land Bridge preserves the land overpass that linked Asia with the Americas thousands of years ago. Today it is mostly underwater.
Once you've arrived from your long journey, your trip will be well worth it. From the Gold Rush remains and ancient Eskimo culture, to the prehistoric lava flows and alpine tundra, you'll have long, adventure-packed days (unless of course you come in the winter when daylight is minimal). Serpentine Hot Springs (who would have thought?) are known for their therapeutic values and offer temporary relief from the biting Alaska snow and wind. Facilities in the preserve are extremely limited, as are maintained trails.
From Bering Land Bridge National Preserve - Alaska:
The Bering Land Bridge National Preserve is one of the most remote national park areas, located on the Seward Peninsula in northwest Alaska. The Preserve is a remnant of the land bridge that connected Asia with North America more than 13,000 years ago. The majority of this land bridge, once thousands of miles wide, now lies beneath the waters of the Chukchi and Bering Seas.
