Getting Around - Southern States (AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN)
Getting Around Roanoke, Asheville, Smoky, Blue Ridge, Shenandoah and Southern Appalachian Mountains
Getting Around Nashville, Louisville and Lexington in Central Kentucky and Tennessee
Driving conditions are generally better than average, and you're quite likely to adopt that calm, polite demeanor so typical of the South. There is no rail service in the region, but Greyhound Lines provides service to many communities.
Getting Around Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Charleston, South Carolina, Atlanta, Savannah, Georgia
Getting Around Jacksonville, Destin, Daytona Beach, Pensacola, St. Augustine, Northeast Florida
The most efficient mode of travel in northeast Florida and the Panhandle is driving. And that's okay because there's lots to see out the window.
Getting Around Orlando, Tampa, Cape Canaveral and Central Florida
There are two excellent, but limited in scope, public transportation systems in the Central Florida region. One is the trolley that runs along International Drive in Orlando, and the other is the fantastic monorail service within the Disney World complex, which travels around the huge theme park, stopping at different parts of it.
Getting Around Key West, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami Beach, Boca Raton and Southern Florida
Public transportation is spotty in South Florida. Bus service is pretty inefficient and taxis can usually only be found in busy locations or by phoning up a local service.
