Western States Tourist AttractionsVery few tourists to the West Coast really cover the whole West Coast. The Western States of California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada has pretty much everything a visitor to the United States would expect, from natural wonders, to some of the most livable cities in the country and some of the most exciting.
Let’s start with exciting. That would be Las Vegas and Southern California. The tourist attractions around Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Venice and Anaheim are enough to keep a family busy for a whole vacation, but consider venturing beyond – to San Diego to the south or up the coast to the north. Or if LA was not exciting enough – head to Las Vegas, Nevada for more.
California Road Trip PlannerIf you expect to cover much of California, besides San Francisco you will need a car, so start planning your California Road Trip. The most popular scenic route in the United States is the Pacific Coast Highway, so lets hit the road on the PCH – out of Malibu. Heading north to San Francisco, expect to spend at least 2 days spending some time at Monterrey, Carmel and other scenic and enjoyable vacation spots along the way. Ditch the car in San Francisco and walk. Your leg muscles will thank you. But don’t stop at the Golden Gate Bridge. Head north through Marin County, with a detour to Napa Valley. Then explore the hundreds of miles left of California that are hidden north of San Francisco. The views from the PCH and US Route 101 north of San Francisco rival the more popular route between Malibu and Carmel, with about one-tenth the traffic.
Washington and Oregon Road Trip PlannerEventually, California ends and you find yourself on an Oregon road trip. The Oregon coast is even more rugged and consistently beautiful up to the Washington State border. Venture inland from the coast for a few days of Oregon tourist attractions including Portland and the wineries of the Willamette Valley.
Your Washington State Road Trip will probably consist of some loops around pristine National Parks. The Cascade Loop is quite popular, as is a road trip to Olympic National Park. Don’t miss Mt. St. Helens. Closer to Seattle, there are some popular Washington State tourist attractions. Seattle residents enjoy their weekends and free time in the nearby islands and in the nature and cultural attractions right in their city. Let them share Seattle with you.
