Midwest Indoor Water Parks

Who says you can't go to a water park just because it's cold out? Well the Midwesterners, smart folks who live in a place where it's often too cold to go out and swim, decided that cold certainly shouldn't serve as an obstacle to having fun. And so the creation of the indoor water park allowed Midwesterners, and the people who came to visit them, year-round access to water slides, torpedo slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, and more!

Midwest indoor water parks are so popular that you'll literally have at least one indoor water park in any Midwestern region that you choose to visit. Visiting Chicago? There are indoor water parks nearby? Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas—each area has its water parks, and at least one in each area is inside! Wisconsin Dells is considered the indoor water park capital of the world.

So rain or shine, cold or hot, the Midwest has you covered when it comes to planning a family-fun vacation! And the best part of all—no sunscreen necessary!

Midwest Amusement Parks

Of course when it comes to theme parks, the Midwest won't only supply you with water parks. Outdoor amusement parks are also extremely easy to come by in all of the Midwestern regions, though some areas are more heavily dotted with parks than others. For example, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul have enough theme parks (including indoor and outdoor water parks and theme parks) that if you were visiting for a solid week, you could go to one each day of the week. Other areas like North and South Dakota have very few.

The variety of Midwest amusement parks is astounding. Visit the savannahs of Africa (or at least that's what it looks like) in Chicago's Safari Land; go crazy climbing through the climbing maze at Norridge, Illinois' Go Bananas; bring the little ones to a park they'll truly enjoy at Kiddieland; or ride the Primitive Train, the Tyrano Jet, or the Rexo Coaster and the rip-roaring Dinorex Amusement Park—and that's just Chicago!
