Places to Visit in Pennsylvania Here is a state that offers historic, family-friendly, nature-filled, and downright fun places to visit. In Pennsylvania you'll find no shortage of activities for lone backpackers, couples, or families, young and old. In fact, there are so many places to visit in Pennsylvania that unless you've got a good month to spare, there's no way you'd hit them all!
That being said, a solid two weeks in the area will give you plenty of time to visit all of the major tourist spots and attractions in Pennsylvania. For example, you could spend a few days touring the historic sites in Pennsylvania's largest city, Philadelphia—you could visit some museums, lie out in the parks, and eat at some of the state's best restaurants. A day or two in Lancaster visiting the Amish community, a few days in Pittsburgh (maybe squeezing in a Steelers game), and then another few days hiking through the Alleghany Mountains would give you and your family a well-rounded vacation.
Tourist Spots around New York and New Jersey If you need a month to see all there is to see in Pennsylvania, then you'll need at least two months to visit all of the tourist spots around New York and New Jersey. Take New York alone, for example—so many people head to New York and think that Manhattan is the only destination worth seeing; New York State, though, is huge, with some of the best tourist spots located outside of the Island of Manhattan.
That's not to say that you shouldn't spend a large portion of your stay in New York State in Manhattan; on the contrary—Manhattan is one the greatest tourist spots in the New York and New Jersey area, not to mention in the United States, or even the world. A visit to New York would be incomplete without a stop at Wall Street, Times Square, Ground Zero, or Central Park. Who in their right mind would travel all the way to New York without taking a ride up to the top of the Empire State Building or without visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art? We certainly wouldn't suggest missing that!
Otherwise, you'll want to head north, east, south, and west from New York City to visit tourist spots around New York and New Jersey including the Finger Lakes, Woodstock, the Hamptons, the Catskills, Hudson Valley and more. There are also a number of excellent wineries, world-class spas, and even a few ski resorts in and around New York and New Jersey.
Mid Atlantic Places to Visit The mid-Atlantic region is rich with places to visit. Families, singles, and couples head to this area year-round for top-notch hiking, adventure travel, museum-hopping, and spa-going. In the winter time this area sees skiing enthusiasts and in the summer the shores fill up with tourists and locals alike. Mid-Atlantic places to visit are so many, and so varied, that people choose this region year after year, season after season as their premier vacation spot.
