The famous aviator, Charles Lindbergh (famous for being the first to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean), is buried in Maui, on the grounds of the Palapala Ho'omau Church in Kipahulu on the east side of the island. The Maui Chamber of Commerce issues medals that can be used as legal tender in local shops across the island, in an effort to promote the success of local businesses.
