Weather - Alaska (AK, BC, YT)
Weather in Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Skagway, and the Alaska Panhandle
The Alaska Panhandle has a temperate marine climate, characterized by year-round infrequent but heavy precipitation, mostly in the form of rain. The fair-weathered summers start out quite dry but humidity increases progressively, causing most midsummer days to be overcast and/or rainy.
Weather in Anchorage, Denali, Fairbanks, Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula
It's not as cold as you might have thought in this region, especially along the coast, which is surprisingly mild, due to the maritime climate and the protection of the area by the Chugach Mountains. Inland, however, the weather is more extreme.
Weather in Kodiak and the Aleutian Islands of Southwest Alaska
Winters in southwest Alaska are characterized by particularly stormy weather. Biting winds, heavy snowfall, and blizzards with large amounts of snow and sleet are common throughout the long winter.
Weather in the Glaciers of Southeast Alaska, Whitehorse and the Klondike of Southwest Yukon
Southeast Alaska and the Yukon exhibit a dry, cold continental climate. The region benefits greatly from the warm Japanese current, which causes the weather to be milder than the norm for such a high latitude.
Weather in Alaska Bush, Nome, Barrow and the Arctic
One thing's for sure in this region: It doesn't get much colder than this! Sparsely inhabited, the weather up in this part of Alaska simply wasn't meant for human life to thrive in.
