High Sierra Adventure Travel in Yosemite National Park

The alpine meadows and sheer granite cliffs of Yosemite National Park call out to adventure seekers – from backcountry trekkers to rock climbers and mountain climbers. El Capitan and Half Dome are two of the most famous rock climbs in the United States and, obviously require very high levels of rock climbing skills to scale the stone face.

Hiking trails to the top of Half Dome are difficult but quite popular. An 8-mile hike will get you to the top for an Ansel Adams – style photo. The hike to the top of El Capitan is via a wilderness backcountry trail with an elevation difference of close to 5000 feet.
The hike is almost 30 miles long and requires 4 to 5 days.

Adventure Travel in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

With 800 miles of hiking trails, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks offers multi-day treks deep into the wilderness of the High Sierras. Adventure-seekers who have not yet managed to climb the highest peaks in Nepal, Alaska or Chile can accomplish the non-technical climb of Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48 states. The summit is reached by an 11 mile trail or by longer treks.

Reno, Nevada Adventure Place

In an attempt to drive more people to the casinos of Reno, the city fathers decided to market Reno as an adventure place. Their attempts might be too successful. Outdoor lovers are attracted to the nearby biking, hiking and fishing and might just forget to spend time at the tables. The city has created the Truckee River Whitewater Park running right through downtown Reno.
